Render Passes 01

I did test render passes for this particular frame shot.

IBL Lighting Set-up

So i brought the panorama into Photoshop and convert it to 32-bit hdr.format.
With a final gather primary scale of 2.00 instead of 1.00 the default.
I also added a directional light from where the light is coming from, to give the slight brightness.

New version of Model

So i decided to change the model as it doesn't look evil enough.
I downloaded a model from ,TF3DM.com Laser Peak ,a robotic bird from the movie Transformers.
So i change a little bit of the model, extend the model to be longer and remove the wings.

Here's the before and after

First Cut of Lighting & Texturing

With the spherical map IBL, i applied simple mia_materials onto the model and adjust the settings.

This is my reference for the glowing eyes effect;

Robot Vision POV effect.

Reference

So here is my first cut of the effect, i haven't decide whether i should put in the HUD element or not. What i did was in after effect, i applied a CC Lens Distortion.

Modelling Version 2 !

So i combined my model for the 'tail' to a CG model that i found online together. The head of the robot, was originally a portal gun. I tweak some of the model and merge it with the model i made.
Image above was a quick test render with simple materials applied and a preset IBL using Physical Sun and Sky.

Shooting Day !

So we meet straight at Outram Park on Friday for our shoot.

I love doing camera work, so i suggested the camera angles/framing overall, on how the scene could be taken.. All shots were hand-held, since the Z-cage Stabilizer that we borrowed had missing screws, so we cannot mount our camera on it.
We use black and red tapes for our marking trackers. We had to paste a large sum of tape as from far, it looked too small, so we had to doubled it.
Shooting lasts about 3 hours long, and we also did a quick rough cut on the spot, to see any out of focus shots and any shots that we were not satisfied with.
All in all, shooting went quite smoothly since there was nobody around, we had the place to ourselves.
